New Results from Diabetes Surveillance in Germany
Issue 2/2019 of the Journal of Health Monitoring focuses on new results from national diabetes surveillance. The first article analyses whether social inequality in diabetes mellitus has increased over time among adults in Germany. The article that follows describes the current data situation on type 1 diabetes in adults and type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, and discusses how existing data gaps can be closed. The next article analyses the relevance of secondary data for diabetes surveillance in Germany and suitable data sources. A further article presents the results of an international comparison of health reporting on diabetes mellitus. The international comparison is to be used to develop a strategy to present future findings from national diabetes surveillance and to ensure that they can be made available promptly to various addressees.
Additionally, this issue also contains an article on the selection and definition of indicators in public health monitoring of health in older age.
