Departments

The Robert Koch Institute has eight departments, each subdivided into four to nine units. The RKI has three locations in Berlin – two of them in the district of Wedding, in the direct vicinity of the Charité university hospital and other research facilities – as well as a branch in Wildau and in Wernigerode in the Harz region. Around 1,500 people including 700 scientists are working at the RKI in eight departments and more than 50 units, project and junior groups.
