Preparedness and response

Preparedness and response aims to support, strengthen and actively develop the planning for and management of epidemically significant situations. The RKI focuses on biological hazards and cooperates with the Public Health Service and national and international partners. The RKI thus contributes to better detection and assessment (international reports, epidemic intelligence) and better management (crisis planning, crisis management). A particular focus is on travel-associated infectious diseases and infection control in the area of migration and socially vulnerable groups. Preparedness and response activities are subject to a complex interplay of national, international and EU regulations.
