The aim of the AntibioResDE (Antibiotic Resistance in Germany) project is to provide up-to-date information on antibiotic resistance in Germany on an electronic platform in order to simplify access to resistance data for clinical practice. AntibioResDE can thus help to prevent the development of resistance and thus treatment failure in bacterial infections.

German EMT jointly with RKI expert responds to cholera outbreak in Angola

In response to the ongoing outbreak of cholera in Angola, the National Focal Point for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT NFP) at the Centre for International Health Protection at RKI supported the deployment of a joint German EMT by sending a senior expert for infection prevention and control (IPC) and outbreak response.

At the invitation of the Mozambican Instituto Nacional de Saúde (INS), the annual conference of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) took place in the capital Maputo from April 9 – 10, 2025. More than 100 representatives from 60 national public health institutes (NPHI) attended and over 200 participants were connected online.

Infectious disease outbreaks, natural hazards and man-made disasters need to be considered in a global context to minimise the threat to the health of people. This is the focus of the WHO Collaborating Centre for GOARN (WHO CC GOARN), the only one of its kind in the world, based at the Robert Koch Institute. The Collaborating Centre is supporting the activities of GOARN (Global Outbreak and Response Network), a global network of more than 300 institutions that respond to acute public health outbreaks by deploying personnel and resources to affected countries.
