Intervention Study to Increase HPV Vaccination Coverage in Germany (InveSt HPV, 2023 - 2026)
Infections with high risk types of the Humane Papillomavirus (HPV) are causing cervical cancer and are associated with penis, anus and mouth/throat cancer. Currently, almost 8,000 new cases of cancer per year can be attributed to HPV in Germany. Although there are highly effective and safe vaccines available to prevent HPV associated cancer, only 54% of 15-year-old girls and 27% of 15-year-olds boys were fully vaccinated against HPV in 2021 in Germany. From the RKI's perspective, there are several approaches to increasing HPV vaccination coverage in Germany. Two of these approaches are being addressed and evaluated in the context of InveSt HPV. COVIMO – COVID-19 vaccination rate monitoring in Germany (2021 - 2022)
COVIMO intended to regularly survey the German population on topics related to COVID-19 vaccination. The goal of the COVID-19 vaccination rate monitoring was to capture the willingness and acceptance of different population groups in Germany to get vaccinated, to identify possible barriers to vaccination uptake in a timely manner and to be able to derive appropriate communication measures.
