Start of the new 2024-2027 PhD cohort at the ZKI-PH

Date:  16/10/2024

The Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Public Health Research (ZKI-PH) at the Robert Koch Institute warmly welcomes its young scientists of the 2024-2027 PhD student cohort! Since the beginning of October, six new PhD students joined our research teams and from now on contribute their expertise to numerous scientific projects.

The projects of the new ZKI-PH PhD cohort this year will again focus on the topics of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and epidemiology. These include next generation virus isolation in cell culture using artificial intelligence (ZKI-PH3 with ZBS1), unsupervised pattern identification in biomedical imaging data (ZKI-PH3) and investigating the compounding effects of socio-economic factors on infectious disease dynamics of vector-borne diseases (ZKI-PH4 with ZKI-PH3). Other projects assess the measles elimination status through AI-assisted molecular surveillance (ZKI-PH2 and ZKI-PH5 with FG12), predict the occurrence of vaccine-preventable diseases in Germany with Machine Learning approaches (ZKI-PH4 with FG33), and develop antimicrobial resistance surveillance through innovative ML/AI-driven data visualization (ZKI-PH5 with FG37).

We wish our new colleagues every success on their way to their doctoral degrees.
