The Robert Koch Colloquium is an annual interdisciplinary lecture series hosted by the Robert Koch Institute. Each year, the colloquium focuses on a cutting-edge public health theme, bringing together leading experts to present and discuss their research and insights.

This year’s colloquium centres on the theme “Empowering Public Health: From Data to Global Health,” exploring the transformative potential of digitalization, data analytics, and advanced technologies in addressing public health challenges worldwide. Over two days, the colloquium will showcase lectures on topics including digitalization in Public Health surveillance and microbiology as well as the use of wearable devices, mathematical modelling and the potential of artificial intelligence in advancing systematic reviews.

As the availability and complexity of health data expand, the role of national Public Health institutes in fostering timely, evidence-based decision-making through the application of those data becomes increasingly evident. However, these advancements come with multifaceted challenges. The colloquium will also address critical issues such as mitigating biases in data, overcoming obstacles in data fusion and sharing, and navigating the complexities of health data exchanges in a globalized world.

International health initiatives rely on effective strategies for data integration and collaboration to reduce health disparities and enhance health outcomes. The closing panel discussion will focus on how these innovations shape the future of Public Health. It will examine the induced opportunities and challenges for local and global health.

By exploring the intersection of advanced technologies, data integration and Public Health, the colloquium aims to provide a forum for knowledge exchange and thought-provoking discussions.
