According to EU law, information on antibiotic resistance is listed in section 5.1 of the summary of product characteristics for antibiotics. This is to ensure that an antibiotic is suitable for the treatment of a bacterial infection in view of the resistance situation. For prescribing physicians, it can be challenging to keep track of current developments in the resistance situation.
The aim of the AntibioResDE (Antibiotic Resistance in Germany) project is to provide up-to-date information on antibiotic resistance in Germany on an electronic platform in order to simplify access to resistance data for clinical practice. AntibioResDE can thus help to prevent the development of resistance and thus treatment failure in bacterial infections.
AntibioResDE is currently being funded as a feasibility study by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and is being carried out by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) together with the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). Please contact us using the contact form below if you would like to give us feedback on the development or share your experiences and needs concerning antibiotic resistance information in clinical practice with us.
We presented first results of our online survey on the use of the product characteristics for antibiotics at the ESCMID 2025 conference in Vienna. We would like to thank all the doctors who took part in the survey!
