ZKI-PH 5: Visualisation
Date: 01/04/2024
- Leader:
- Dr. Georges Hattab
- Deputy:
- Dr. Bahar İlgen
The main focus of the unit “Visualisation” is the development of computational solutions at the intersection of visualisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of Public Health Research. The unit develops approaches that leverage visualisation techniques to explain, explore, and improve the understanding of the inner workings of AI models as well as data analytics techniques. With the dual goal of increasing the ability of users to better understand and control the models or the data, the unit is also investigating ways to mitigate or solve problems that arise when visualising data, such as uncertainty, accessibility, bias in rendered visualisations.
Tasks
- Strategic management of the expansion of AI research at the RKI in the areas of information processing, learning and decision-making processes.
- Method development of AI-supported simulations and modelling for the user-friendly visualisation of biomedical data
- Use of AI-supported methods for pattern recognition, knowledge representation and processing
- Development of visual analytics for the presentation and provision of highly complex and high-dimensional data sets for the public, the BMG and the research landscape outside the RKI and ZKI-PH
