Investigation of physical activity promotion in daycare centers, schools and sports clubs – taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic (short BeweKi)

Date:  24/03/2023

Aims of the study

The project BeweKi of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) examines the implementation of physical activity promotion for children and adolescents in daycare centers, schools and sports clubs. In this context, the promotion of physical activity under pandemic conditions is also of interest. The study collects and analyses data on

  • types, methods, and coverage of physical activity promotion activities, and
  • barriers and facilitators that professionals experience in the implementation of physical activity promotion in these settings.

For this purpose, professionals from daycare centres, schools and sports clubs in Germany are interviewed in several sub-studies. BeweKi uses a mixed-methods study design consisting of quantitative and qualitative survey methods. The RKI cooperates with the German Youth Institute (DJI) for the BeweKi study.

BeweKi is running from 1.12.2021-30.11.2023 and funded by the Federal Ministry of Health (funding code ZMI1-2521KIG910).
