Health Situation of Women in Germany

Today there are over 35 million adult women living in Germany with very diverse life situations. Factors in scope here include age, education, occupation, income, family form and cultural background all of which have an impact on their health. The ‘Health Situation of Women in Germany’ report provides comprehensive and up-to-date information on the health status, health behaviour and health care of women in Germany. Information on women of all age groups is provided and one chapter is especially devoted to the health of girls. The focus chapters consider the health of specific groups of women, e.g. women with a migration background or women with disabilities.

This report was prepared by Federal Health Reporting (Gesundheitsberichterstattung des Bundes, GBE) at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) with the assistance of numerous external experts. There was close cooperation with the Federal Statistical Office. The GBE ‘Health Situation of Women in Germany’ report provides an empirical basis for many issues related to women's health and aims to contribute to raising awareness in politics, science and professional practice and therefore to maintaining and promoting women's health.

The introduction, the executive summary as well as the summary and conclusion of the report are available as PDF documents in English.
