Infectious Disease Epidemiology

One of the Robert Koch Institute's core competencies is infectious disease epidemiology. In accordance with the German Protection against Infection Act, the RKI records and analyses data on the occurrence of numerous infectious diseases in Germany. Each year, the results are published in the Epidemiological Yearbook of Notifiable Infectious Diseases. The executive summaries of the Yearbook are also provided in English; more detailed information can be obtained online from the SurvStat Database of Notifiable Diseases.

The institute also provides epidemiological and medical analyses and evaluation of highly contagious, life-threatening diseases which are of great significance for the public (e.g. Ebola virus disease). Information about internationally relevant outbreaks and key documents (such as reports, recommendations and guidelines) are also provided in English; the list will be continued.
