Contagious Cities at the Robert Koch Institute

Contagious Cities is a project initiated by the Wellcome Trust marking the centenary of the 1918 influenza pandemic. The aim of this intercultural project is to encourage public conversations about global challenges around epidemic preparedness.

As part of Contagious Cities the Robert Koch Institute is showing a video Contagion in the 21st Century, which complements the permanent exhibition at its museum. The narrative takes the audience through places where Robert Koch made some of his most astounding discoveries. The meaning of contagion then changes as the story moves through the present day, giving the viewer the chance to reflect on the various public health threats we now face and which we could face in the not so distant future.

Public viewing is possible until 8th September 2019.

This video was developed in partnership with the Museum für Naturkunde and is supported by the Wellcome Trust as part of Contagious Cities.
