RKI’s president becomes member of WHO’s Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Infections Hazards

The president of the Robert Koch Institute Prof. Lothar H. Wieler, has been appointed as a member of the "Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Infectious Hazards" by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, the primary purpose of the STAG-IH is to provide independent analysis on infectious hazards that may pose a potential threat to global health security. It has an advisory function on infectious hazards, complementing functions of the Independent Oversight and Advisory Committee (IOAC) and the International Health Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee (EC). The constituent meeting of the group took place at the WHO in Geneva on 8th and 9th May, 2018.
