Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network (GOARN)

The Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network (GOARN) is a network of more than 200 partners ready to respond to infectious disease outbreaks worldwide – among them the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Public Health England, UNICEF, Médecins sans Frontières, and the Robert Koch Institute. GOARN is based at the World Health Organisation (WHO) headquarters in Geneva.

On request, RKI staff regularly supports GOARN in tackling outbreaks, mostly in African and Asian countries – the latest deployments were on Madagascar (plague), in Nigeria (lassa fever), in Bangladesh (Diphtheria) and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (ebola fever).
