Library at the Robert Koch Institute

The library of the Robert Koch-Institute is a specialized scientific library which collects literature according to the focus of its work. Unique to our library is the historic stock from the time of Robert Koch’s work.

The institute has two libraries that are open to the public, which are located in the sites in Berlin Nordufer and Wernigerode. Use of these libraries by external visitors is possible by making an appointment beforehand. Since the RKI library was conceptualized as a reference library, our stock can only be viewed at the site. Lending literature for out of house use is therefore not possible.

Around 100.000 units of books and magazine volumes as well as a multitude of digital periodicals are available for our employees. Furthermore, employees and external visitors are provided with workplaces, Wi-Fi access and connection points for laptops.

Usage Instructions

  • External visitors should include a list of the literature they are looking for when making an appointment.
  • Lending books or periodicals for out of house use is not possible.
  • Users of the library are responsible for complying with existing copyright and privacy regulations when copying or duplicating books and other material. In case of loss or damage of the library stock, damages have to be compensated.
  • The Terms of Use must be complied with.
