ZV 1: Human Resources

Head:
Silvia Schuckert
Deputy:
Christine Steinicke

The Human Resources Unit takes care of all aspects of the employment relationship, from recruitment and hiring to termination. As an internal service provider, it offers competent and comprehensive advice and information, taking into account the financial and legal framework conditions. The unit is committed to offering employees and managers an attractive and modern working environment. This working environment is characterised in particular by the following features:

Recruiting and onboarding
Through effective recruiting and onboarding, we ensure that the institute has qualified and motivated employees and that they are successfully integrated. In times of generational change and a prevailing shortage of skilled labour across all professional groups, recruiting and onboarding new employees is one of our most important human resources processes, which we are continuously developing and improving.

Flexible working hours and mobile working
The further development of flexible working time models is an important concern for us. With the service agreements on qualified flextime and mobile working, we can respond to the individual needs of employees and give them more freedom to organise their working hours.

Education and training
Employee training is a central component of our human resources development and we offer a wide range of opportunities for further training. These include e-learning platforms, interactive training courses and individual qualification agreements. With the help of the annual employee meetings, training needs are assessed annually, which form the basis for the internal training programme. In addition, participation in external training programmes for employees is encouraged. For us, lifelong learning is part of the institute's culture.

Occupational health management
The improvement of working conditions, occupational medical check-ups and the strengthening of preventive healthcare for employees are at the centre of occupational health management. This is accompanied by the promotion of regular physical activities for employees and occupational health campaigns in close cooperation with the committees and the institute's occupational safety specialist. The established programme for reintegrating employees after an illness helps to avoid new periods of incapacity to work and to maintain and promote health.

Diversity and inclusion
We are committed to diversity and inclusion at the workplace. This includes promoting an open and tolerant institute culture and implementing targeted measures to promote diversity. In addition to offering training courses and workshops to sensitise on diversity, this also includes a recruiting to address a diverse applicant base and programmes to promote diversity in management positions.

Compatibility of family and career
As part of our human resources work, we aim to create a family-friendly working environment and give employees the opportunity to successfully reconcile family and career. For example, we support employees in planning and applying for parental leave, enable flexible working time models or the opportunity to work part-time. In addition, in almost all of the institute's buildings there are parent-child offices, childcare facilities and a family service.
