Scientific Advisory Board for the Centre for International Health Protection (ZIG)
A Scientific Advisory Board accompanies the work of the Centre for International Health Protection ZIG at the Robert Koch Institute. The international experts advise the RKI in the field of international health protection, e.g. in pandemic control and prevention, as well as in exchange with National Public Health Institutes.
The Centre for International Health Protection was established following the experience of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and started its work in January 2019. ZIG’s main tasks are information management, the development of evidence-based methods as well as providing support for the implementation of projects on international health protection. ZIG thus contributes to fulfilling the new requirements in the area of international health protection as laid down in the new version of the Infection Protection Act in 2017. At the same time, the activities of the ZIG facilitate synergies which strengthen health protection in Germany. The members of the Scientific Advisory Board reflect the interdisciplinary expertise required in this field.
