Weight changes in adults in Germany

Second funding phase of the Competence Network Obesity

The aim of the project is to study individual changes in the body weight and waist measurement of adults in Germany according to age, sex and region.

The evaluations include numerous cohort studies in Germany that measured or asked about body weight and waist measurement over a period of approximately ten years. The Robert Koch Institute supplies data from the two nationwide surveys GNHIES98 and DEGS1.

In the context of subproject 2 (Life Course Approach To Obesity Research: From Epidemiology To Future Strategies Of Prevention – EPI Germany), prediction models are planned in a further step with respect to the changes of anthropometrical parameters in adulthood.

Data source: Study participants from the first phase of the DEGS1 (2008-2011) who had already taken part in GNHIES98.
