Herbal medicines in the KiGGS
Contact person: Dr. Hildtraud Knopf
The use of herbal medicinal products has a long tradition in German-speaking Central Europe. During the creation of monographs by the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC), it often becomes evident that if at all, only insufficient data is available proving the use or benefits of herbal medicinal products in children and adolescents.
The aim of the project is to perform a special evaluation of the data obtained in the context of KiGGS in order to gain new information that will improve the data situation and possibly also be of benefit in the discussion on HMPC monographs.
Population-representative indications should be obtained on the prevalence, spectrum and determinants of the use of herbal medicinal products in children and adolescents in Germany.
