Health in Germany 2006

Life expectancy is rising and the general health situation is good, but the number of people who smoke, are obese, do too little exercise and/or drink too much alcohol is still too high.

These are the main conclusions of the health report entitled "Health in Germany", which has been published as part of Federal Health Reporting (GBE) by the Robert Koch Institute on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Health.

It provides an easy-to-read overview of the population's health and Germany's health service, and records developments over the last ten years: How good is our health? What are the factors affecting health? What is the health service doing in the fields of prevention and health promotion? How have supply and demand in healthcare changed? How much do we spend on our health? How can patients obtain information and take part in decisions?
