Job Title

Tasks

Scientific research activity in the field of Artificial Intelligence for Public Health, in particular:

• Independently work on exciting research projects at the interface of AI and Public Health, e.g. in one of the following areas:

  • Basic AI research in Public Health; AI applications for society.

• Cross-departmental collaboration with colleagues at the Robert Koch Institute to combine and extend the expertise traditionally
  anchored at the RKI in the study of infectious and non-communicable diseases with artificial intelligence methods, e.g., through
  the

  • Comprehensive analysis of disease dynamics; further development of early warning systems; risk assessment of pathogens;
    optimization of disease burden calculations;
  • Visualization of complex relationships, Big Data analyses, and pattern recognition of complex public health data.
• Data management, data linkage, algorithm/method development, and quality assurance of this work
• Participation in the supervision of master's students

Preparation of scientific reports and publications

• Preparation of project and research reports
• Publication of research results in national and international journals
• Presentation of research results at national and international congresses

Your profile

Formal requirements

• Completed scientific university studies (e.g., university diploma, master's degree) in the field of data science, machine learning,
  public health, or a related field.

For foreign educational qualifications, we require proof of equivalence with a German degree.

Knowledge and experience:

• relevant in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning
• Proven experience in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Data Science in the application
  field of ZKI-PH
• Very good knowledge in quantitative data analysis and practical experience in dealing with complex data bodies in common
  programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python and R)

Additionally desirable:

• Knowledge or experience in the specialized fields of the Robert Koch Institute and/or public health research
• Experience in presenting complex (scientific) topics in a comprehensible way
• Initial experience in scientific presentation of research results

Further requirements

• Language skills English at least C1, preferably C2, German at least A2 or willingness to acquire further German skills as soon as possible in order to be able to communicate effectively in the working environment
• List of publications and list of previous/ongoing externally funded projects with funding details
