Federal Health Reporting

How many people in Germany are unable to work because they suffer from backache?

Are first-graders sufficiently vaccinated against polio, tetanus and diphtheria?

Which groups of people have the highest incidence of nutrition-induced illnesses?

The Federal Health Reporting service (Gesundheitsberichterstattung des Bundes, GBE) answers these and other questions. It provides a fact-based foundation for political decisions by giving accounts of important aspects of both health and the healthcare sector,. Furthermore, GBE serves to monitor the effects of measures taken and facilitates and promotes the development and evaluation of targets within the healthcare sector.

The issues raised by Federal Health Reporting include all areas of the healthcare sector:

  • the population's health status
  • health behaviour and health risks
  • morbidity
  • services and healthcare utilization
  • cost and funding of the healthcare sector
