Hospital Hygiene

The Division of Applied General and Hospital Hygiene (FG14) is concerned with practical issues of infectious disease prevention, in particular the surveillance, analysis and evaluation of nosocomial infections.
The Division both supervises and administrates The Commission for Hospital (healthcare associated) Hygiene and Infectious Disease Prevention, publishes relevant national guidelines, provides guideline-related advice to the scientific community and records problems associated with their implementation. In the laboratory, procedures to interrupt chains of infection, such as disinfection and sterilisation are developed and assessed experimentally.
