Arriving in Berlin by train:

From Berlin Hauptbahnhof railway station (distance by taxi: 4 km)

The quickest way to the Institute is to take the S-Bahn (city train) to "Friedrichstraße", then the U-Bahn heading for "Alt-Tegel" and the tram to "Virchow Klinikum".

  • To access the S-Bahn from the mainline platforms, follow the signs to the S-Bahn on the top floor of the station building (tickets are available at vending machines: a single ticket for the A & B sections of Berlin costs €2.80)*.
  • From the "Hauptbahnhof" S-Bahn platform, take the S5, S7, S9 or S75 heading for "Ostkreuz" or "Alexanderplatz" to the station "Friedrichstraße" (1 stop, takes approx. 2 minutes).
  • Change here to the U6 underground line (U-Bahn). Follow the signs to the U6 on the lower floor of the station. Take the U6 heading for "Alt-Tegel" and get off at "Seestraße" (7 stops, takes approx. 8 minutes).
  • Change here from the U6 to the M13 Metrotram or the no. 50 tram and stay on the tram until the end of the line at "Virchow Klinikum" (2 stops, takes approx. 2 minutes).
  • Cross the road to the left at the traffic lights. You will soon reach the entrance of the Robert Koch Institute at Seestraße 10.


From Zoologischer Garten railway station (distance by taxi: 4 km)

The quickest way to the Institute is to take the S-Bahn (city train) to "Osloer Straße", then the tram to "Virchow Klinikum".

  • To access the U-Bahn from the mainline platforms, follow the signs to the U-Bahn on the lower floor of the station building (tickets are available at vending machines: a single ticket for the A & B sections of Berlin costs €2.80)*.
  • From "Zoologischer Garten" U-Bahn station, take the U9 heading for "Osloer Straße" and get off at "Osloer Straße" (8 stops, takes approx. 12 minutes).
  • Change here from the U9 to the M13 Metrotram or the no. 50 tram and stay on the tram until the end of the line at "Virchow Klinikum" (5 stops, takes approx. 7 minutes).
  • Cross the road to the left at the traffic lights. You will soon reach the entrance of the Robert Koch Institute at Seestraße 10.

Arriving in Berlin by plane:

From Tegel Airport (distance by taxi: 6 km)

The quickest way to the Institute is to take the bus to "Osloer Straße" and then the tram to "Virchow Klinikum" (tickets are available on the bus or from a vending machine: a single ticket for the A & B sections of Berlin costs €2.80)*.

  • Take the no. 128 bus heading for "U Osloer Straße" to the end of the line at "Osloer Straße" (16 stops, takes approx. 23 minutes).
  • Change here to the M13 Metrotram or the no. 50 tram and stay on the tram until the end of the line at "Virchow Klinikum" (5 stops, takes approx. 7 minutes).
  • Cross the road to the left at the traffic lights. You will soon reach the entrance of the Robert Koch Institute at Seestraße 10.

A taxi from Tegel Airport to the Robert Koch Institute, Seestraße 10, 13353 Berlin-Wedding takes about 15 minutes.

From Schönefeld Airport (distance by taxi: 31 km)

The quickest way to the Institute is to take the S-Bahn (city train) to "Hermannstraße", then the U-Bahn (underground) to "Osloer Straße" and the tram to "Virchow Klinikum" (tickets are available at vending machines: a single ticket for the A, B & C sections of Berlin costs €3.30)*.

  • After leaving the airport building, follow the covered walkway to the S-Bahn railway station (approx. 5 minutes walk).
  • Take the S45 heading for "Hermannstraße" (9 stops, takes approx. 15 minutes).
  • Change here to the U8 U-Bahn line heading for "Wittenau" and get off at "Osloer Straße" (17 stops, takes approx. 25 minutes).
  • Change here from the U8 to the M13 Metrotram or the no. 50 tram and stay on the tram until the end of the line at "Virchow Klinikum" (5 stops, takes approx. 7 minutes).
  • Cross the road to the left at the traffic lights. You will soon reach the entrance of the Robert Koch Institute at Seestraße 10.
